IMMIGRATION: Proud to have had grandparents on both sides of my famiy that were immigrants from Italy that came to the United States for a better life and to start familes here as to have sons that served in World War II and daughters that worked in factories contributing to the workforce and economy of that time, and for thier future grandchildren to get educations and careers that would continue the Amercian Dream they were seeking and to futher contribute to this great nation . My grandfather Nicolo Polignone said it best: becoming a U.S. Citizen was the greatist day of his life.
Veterans: Honored to have been raised by a father that served in World War II and to have other family members that proudly served both in combat and in non-combat roles. My father only told me stories of his service that were pleasant, but kept to himself the traumatic things he witnessed in his service. I saw in my father's silent private suffering he endured and always had a deep respect for the men and women that served, and those that continue to serve presently.
Social Security: Having been an advocate for elders and disabled persons for many years before starting my law practice, I have seen first-hand the struggles disabled persons not only have to navigate in thier day to day life, but the financial struggles of not being able to work in gainful employment and to financially struggle for food, medicine and decent housing. The Social Security system is a great program that gives people dignity and a more stable life
